Dec 22, 2011 2:44 PM by Discussion: Skinning

I just finished updating Miricla for my wife. She wanted me to add snowflakes and a few other winter decorations. Everything works perfectly on my 2 machines. I have had several people test it, and for the most part, no problems. But when I load the skin on my wife's computer, it looks like Windows classic. Below are screenshots from my machine and hers, of the same skin:

I have tried the steps listed in this thread as well https://forums.wincustomize.com/414289, but it did not help.

Anyone have any bright ideas?

...sort of.

Well, I've not been skinning much lately. Some of you know that I work at a Bible college. For the past several years, my only real responsibility has been to oversee the yearbook. Well, that changed drastically in May of this year. I now oversee all of the graphic design, the graphic design curriculum, advertising, website, and social media for the college, as well as the yearbook.

I also get design jobs on the side, which is nice side income, but it tends to consume my evenings.

Needless to say, I've been busy. I have a WindowBlinds skin in the works that is about one-third complete, and even then, I'm not sure It'll keep much of the same look by the time I'm done with it. I've been working on it since mid-June. [e classic]:P[/e]

I'm NOT leaving WC. But I will be putting out skins at a slower rate due to my schedule. Just thought I'd let you all know that I'm alive and kickin' higher than ever; just not so much here.

Maybe my skin will see the light of day before 2011...

With some of the discussion that has transpired in recent months, I got to thinking; what makes a Master Skin a "Master Skin?"

People have mentioned that certain "Master" skins are either well worth their purchase or "not up to par." I feel that if the community can jump in and give input about what they'd like to see in the Master Skin program, that it would help the masters out there to better deliver what the community wants.

So let's hear it: What's in a master skin?

This is meant to be a civilized discussion--not a medium for people to bash, trash, or flame anybody. I did not start this thread for anyone to take it and use it for self promotion, fanboyism, or the belittling of anyone else.

Also, this is not the place for those who don't like the Master Skin program to bash the fact that this site sells skins. If you want to complain about that, go to another thread.

Let's keep it courteous and civil. [e digicons]:sun:[/e]

A much overdue thanks to Stardock Support

Jul 7, 2010 5:21 PM by Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Every time I have had to contact Stardock Support about an issue, I have always received a timely response. Sometimes my issue can not be fixed, as in my most recent request to obtain an older program; but even then, the response is fast.

This time, something with my account was fixed that I didn't even know was a problem, but Support caught it and asked me if I wanted it cared for. It took 2 business days--tops.

Because of the nature of their jobs, SD Support can take a lot of flack. I just wanted to take this opportunity to post a public positive note about them, and to say THANK YOU!

Sometimes we tend to forget about the men behind the curtain. Seriously, if we didn't have them, we would ALL know it when the need were to arise.

Thanks again for all you do, SD Support!

I'm going to go all-out this time. I'm beginning work on the first WindowBlind in a trilogy of themes. The family of themes is caled Valence Shell, which will be futuristic and sci-fi.

Each theme will include skins for WindowBlinds, ObjectDock, IconPackager, and possibly CursorFX.

I am starting off with Valence Shell 1: Plasma Canon, which is a steel mixed with a little dark glass, and a lot of plasma green highlights.

Valence Shell 2: Ultra Violet and Valence Shell 3: Proton Beam will follow.

These skins will be designed for Windows 7, Vista & XP.

From one father to others, I just wanted to wish all the dads out there a

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

Go ahead and let us know how you're celebrating, what your family did for you, or what you're doing for your dad.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I started a Facebook page for Mirsguy. This is separate from my personal FB page and will focus entirely on my skins. I'll post screenshots, updates, and other tidbits.

You're welcome to check it out!

I for one wish to thank Brad, Jeff and whoever else was involved in getting ObjectDock 2.0 to the point where it could be released! I just downloaded it and am very excited about it!

I also wanted to thank the team for a couple of specific things:

1. Thank you for the new True stretch feature. Without this feature (like in 1.9) docks pictured below would look choppy, but now they are smooth.

2. A personal thank you for including the Caliginous dock with the program. I am honored to have been able to contribute here. That was one of my earliest docks. [e digicons]:)[/e]

One thing that I believe is necessary is to natively include the Stacks docklet. I already have it saved, so it's not a big deal to just copy it over; but it would be nice to not have to.
